DevLog #13 - Being a Bit More Productive


Well, it's been a minute. Honestly, the game isn't much far along from where it was before. What is the reason? General creative block. I tried distracting myself with music, but I have gotten used to spending lots of time at work. It helps that I mostly enjoy being around my coworkers, so it's not totally unbearable. I decided to start taking ADHD medication, since I felt as if I was becoming stagnant. I could not force myself to focus when I wanted to. After getting used to the medication, I started being very productive with some creative projects I was working on. Then there was a shortage, so I had to switch to a different one that kinda makes me feel cracked up lol. It still helps with productivity though. Anyways, now that I'm back in the grandset to work on this game, I thought I would take a little snapshot of what is possible in the game so far. What better way to do this, than to build the game and upload it to the itch.io? So now, i'll introduce you to 'TheField v0.01p'. Thats a 'p' for 'Prototype'. First release. The furthest from done we will ever see. From now on, if a major feature is completed or ready to test, I'll be updating the game here. My plan right now is to fix all the gameplay managing so that you can test the journey from beginning to end. I have an issue with making an efficient way to have a player return to a location more than once and trigger a different mission depending on where the player is in the story. After that, I really will shift focus to the story presentation. The plan is some sort of mocap, voice acting, in-person acting, not to mention the written script. I still only have an outline of my story right now. Well, time to get to work. I'll probably be binging Tears of the Kingdom after my dev session, so I'll update you... uhhhhh. Whenever I update you.
